Belgium now has the best subsidy regime for offshore wind.
The fund Meewind on July 24, 2009 has a 11,8% stake in the Belgian wind farm Belwind.
The development of 330 MW is fully licensed and the grant has been promised. Construction of the first phase of 165 MW will be finished end of 2010.

The tender of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in June 2010 resulted in
grants pledged a 600 MW development approximately 60 km north of Schiermonnikoog.
The development is achieved by the German Bard. Financial close is expected by
mid 2011, after which construction can be started end of 2011. The build will
be two stages at about two years to be realized and the first current can be
delivered in 2013.
The remainder has not yet been allocated. It is expected that in 2010 approximately
100 MW is allocated by the Ministry. Meewind intends to participate
in one of these parks. The new government's term development of offshore wind takes
place within the framework of the national water plan adopted in 2009. In this plan,
priority areas for offshore wind will be determined, with the objective of 6000 MW at sea by 2020.
